TCI's FY 07 Net Profit up 52%

Transport Corporation of India (TCI) has clocked a whopping 52 per cent jump in its net profit at Rs 30.15 crore for the fiscal ended march 31, 2007 against Rs 19.83 cr fro the same period last fiscal. The net sales of the company registered 20 pc jump to Rs 1,089 cr for the same period in comparison to Rs 907 last fiscal.


BGTA Website & Knowledge Enhancement Committee

Mr. Vineet Agarwal, Executive Director TCIL, addressed the BGTA Website & Knowledge Enhancement Commitee (WAKE) on 28th April 2007 in Mumbai and shared his perspective with the participants on TCI's success story.


Conference on Developing Container Infrastructure

Mr. Jasjit Sethi, CEO Supply Chain Solutions delivered a Presentation on 24th April 2007 at the "Conference on Developing Container Infrastructure - Ports, Railways and ICDs" at New Delhi. His topic focussed on the Emerging Customer Needs and how the Service Providers can address these neeeds by providing integrated solutions


"Seena Tan Ke" Campaign

As part of Seena Tan Ke campaign, TCI Foundation invited actors Richard Gere, Sunny Deol & actress Shilpa Shetty to address more than 4,000 truck drivers at the Sanjay Gandhi Transport Nagar on 15th April 2007. At the event, actors and icons honoured the trucking community for their tremendous service.


TCI Seaways acquisition of fifth vessel

TCI Seaways, the shipping arm of Transport Corporation of India, announced on 21st March 2007, its acquisition of a fifth vessel, TCI Surya. The 312-TEU capacity (4,508 dwt) vessels, also capable of handling project cargoes with the help of a 40-tonne crane on board as well as 60 reefer containers, will be deployed on the coast and also to serve ports in the SAARC countries.


Driver training programme

TCI & TCI Supply Chain Solutions fleet team attended a driver training program held at Pune, on 16th March 2007. The programme conducted in association with Apollo Tyres focused on Proper Upkeep of Tyres.


"India : The Supply Chain Challenge"

Mr. Vineet Agarwal, Executive Director, TCIL delivered a presentation on "India : The Supply Chain Challenges" at the Fresh Produce India 2007 on 23 February , 2007 held in Hyderabad.


Fleet Training Programme

Fleet Training Programme was conducted between 12th-16th February 2007 at Hotel Rurai, Pune. Seventeen employees from TCI/XPS/TCI SCS participated. Mr. B. Sumit Kumar, Mr. R. R. Pandey and Mr. Rajendra Sharma conducted the training.


First Core Committee Meeting of XPS Courier

XPS Courier organized its first Courier Core Committee Meeting at Corporate Office from 1st-2nd February 2007. Several policy decisions were taken during the course of the meeting.


XPS participated at the IETF

XPS participated at the International Engineering and Technology Fair (IETF). This exhibition was held from 13-16 February 2007 at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi.


HIV/AIDS Awareness Policy at Work place

Working towards the implementation of HIV/AIDS Awareness Policy at Workplace ,TCI conducted a meeting with ILO on 24th January 2006.At the meeting it was decided that a survey report on KABP (Knowledge,Attitute &Behaviour Practices) would be made within a month's time.


TCIF's "seena Tan ke" campaign

TCIF organized a Partner Meet in Gurgaon where all the Project Directors and Project Coordinators of all PIUs were invited. They were introduced to the second phase of the IPC rollout and the "Seena Tan Ke campaign".


"Shipping as an instrument of foreign Policy of India"

The Master Mariners of India,(Delhi Chapter)had arranged a Seminar on Saturday,20th January 2007 under the theme "Shipping as an Instrument of Foreign Policy of India ",New Delhi. Capt.Sanjeev Khanijo of TCI Seaways had presented a paper on "Container Shipping Growth". The Chief Guest at the function was Capt.J.S.Uppal-Deputy Nautical Advisor to The Government of India cum Sr.DDG (Tech)Also present were various other luminaries from the shipping fraternity from Delhi and Mumbai including Capt.H.Khatri-Deputy Director General (Technical).


Global Logistics Summit

Mr. Vineet Agarwal, Executive Director-TCIL gave a presentation on "Logistics-Key Driver for Enhancing India's Global Competitiveness" at the Global Logistics Summit organised by the Indian School of Business, Hyderabad on 5th-6th Dec., 2006. The event was inaugurated by the Prime Minister of India Dr. Manmohan Singh.


Sports Event

Toyota Techno Park India Pvt. Ltd. (managing supplier's park of Toyota suppliers) conducted Sports Events at Sports Authority Of India Grounds, Bangalore University Campus on 24th December, 2006. Transystem was declared first runner up on the basis of score made in various games.


"Intralogistix"

Group TCI participated at the CII conference- "Intralogistix" held between 30th November-2nd December, 2006 in Pune.


10th TCM at Nalmangla

The 10th TCM (Transhipment Coordination Meeting) was held at Nalmangla on 16th-18th November. All the A & B grade transhipments have participated in TCM. The meeting was chaired by Mr. Vineet Agarwal (ED - TCI) & Mr. O. P. Jain (CEO-TCI).


"Retail Logistics : Changes & Challenges"

TCI SCS has participated in seminars as speaker in Indian Retail Summit, 24th November 2006 in Mumbai. The Topic addressed was "Retail Logistics : Changes & Challenges" and also participated in Foundation of India Industry & Economists, 2nd Nov 2006 in Delhi. The topic was "Infrastructure Development Key Driver for Enhancing India's Competitiveness".


80th World Meet of DROCA

TCI Seaways sponsored the 80th World Meet of DROCA (Duffrein Rajendra Old Cadets Association). It was a three day event comprising Conferences, Sports and Entertainment. The event was held between 10th-12th November 2006 in New Delhi. Merchant Navy officers from around the world attended the event. Dr. Montek Singh Ahluwalia addressed the inaugural function and delivered a talk on "Contribution of Merchant Marine towards the Indian Economy".


TCI-HR Meet

The TCI-HR Meet for all OEM's were held from 10th-12th November 2006 at Hotel Queens Residency, Gurgaon. Mr. D. P. Agarwal, Mr. Vineet Agarwal, Mr. O. P. Jain, Mr. K. Prabhakar, Mr. Jasjit Sethi and Mr. M. P. Sarawagi addressed the participants giving their valuable inputs, direction and areas of focus.


TCI Q2 Results

TCI Q2 net up 32% at Rs 6.54 cr . TCI reported a 32 per cent increase in its net profit for the second quarter ended September 30 at Rs 6.54 crore as compared to Rs 4.95 crore in the corresponding quarter previous fiscal. The turnover of the company stood at Rs 272.79 crore as compared to Rs 216.86 crore in the same quarter last year, up 26 per cent.


XPS Partcipated In Annual Conference of CSCMP 2006

XPS participated in the Annual Conference of CSCMP 2006 (Council of Supply Chain Management Professionals 2006), which was held between 15th-18th October 2006 in San Antonio, Texas, US. The Conference was attended by Mr. Chander Agarwal, Executive Director, Mr. Ajit Singh, Vice President - XPS (Mumbai) and Mr. Rakesh Singh, Regional Manager - XPS (Courier-Mumbai).


TCI Seaways Merger With TCI

TCI has merged its shipping subsidiary, TCI Seaways Ltd, with itself. “The merger is part of the exercise to raise overall credit worthiness of the company and get access to loans at better rates required for its Rs 450-crore expansion plan,” Vineet Agarwal, executive director, TCIL told ET.TCI Seaways has a fleet of four cargo ships and reported a profit of Rs 10.70 crore during the last fiscal. “As a result of the merger, earning per share of TCIL will increase from Rs 15.27 to Rs 19.78. The exchange ratio for shareholders will be three shares of TCI Seaways in exchange for two TCIL shares,” Mr Agarwal said

TCI Supply Chian Solutions & XPS Participated at the "Indian Retail Forum"on 8th & 9th September 2006 in Mumbai. Mr. Vineet Agarwal(Executive Director) gave a presentation on "Supply Chain in Organised Retail".


IT Meet Of TCI

IT Meet of TCI was held in Hotel Magmalaya, Gurgaon from 25th Aug to 27th Aug 2006 under the guidance of Vice President (IT). Representatives of XPS Cargo, TCISCS, Seaways and Transystem also attended the same. On the basis of overall performance of Region’s IT Function on set parameters, Mr.Rohit Pant of DLRO and Mr.Bisam Kanti of HYRO was declared jointly the Best Regional IT Incharges while Mr.Ashish Jha of Poona Controlling was given the Best Controlling IT-Incharge. Mr. Vineet Agarwal(Executive Director) presented the momento to the winners.


28th CMC of TCI

28th Controlling Managers Conference (CMC) of TCI was held at Hotel Leela Kovalam, Kerala on August 17–19, 2006 . The conference explored the concept of 3 C's - Competition, Cost and Cash.


8th CMC of XPS

8th Controlling Managers Conference (CMC) of XPS was held at Hotel Leela Kovalam, on August 15–17, 2006. The XPS theme of the Meeting was “Challenge the Competition” and in the process “Removing the Fear Factor” while working with the customers.


Best Logistic System Improvement Supplier

Transystem got the "Best Logistic System Improvement Supplier"  award during Logistic Months celebrated by Toyota in July and August, 2006.


Anmol Rakhi

XPS successfully completed the Anmol Rakhi campaign this year. We must congratulate them on achieving results in spite of the floods and monsoons in the Western India. The response from International markets was also quite good.


TCI Q1 Results

The year started on a buyont note. The Q1 results showed that Net Sales increased by 24% over last year and the PAT by 28%.


TCIF Brokers Strategy

The TCIF Brokers Strategy Census has been completed at all the existing intervention locations. Extension clinics have been set up, involving 6 Brokers (from the census) at SGTN & Ghaziabad. Broker Strategy would be rolled out at Kanpur, Nagpur, Indore, Nelamangala & Pune by the end of July 06. Other locations (Hyderabad, Jaipur, Kalamboli, Agra, Varanasi, Jamshedpur, Hubli) will follow suit.


Tranining of KPFs

TCIF conducted the training of KPFs from Ghaziabad, Bangalore, Nigdi, Nagpur and Kanpur was conducted from 12th June-24th June at Ghaziabad. A group of 2 ORWs and 3 KPS from each location have participated.


Supply Chain Managers Forum

TCI Supply Chain Solutions in association with the CII Institute of Logistics is conducting the Supply Chain Managers Forum at 8 locations across India. The first one was held on 20th June 2006 at Bangalore.


ESI Medical Aroygya Camp

On 18 of June 2006, Ahemdabad Regional Office organized an ESI Medical Aroygya Camp. A team of ESI Doctors visited AHRO and medical checkup was done for around 40 staff members. Over all it was a well executed informative and participative camp, first of its kind at Ahmedabad Regional office.


Documenting Kavach project

The Tata Energy Resource Institute (TERI) is documenting the Kavach project and TCI's internal workplace policy for World Bank Institute.


Annual Results 2006

Transport Corporation of India (TCI) has announced a sharp jump of 56% in net profit, which increased to Rs 16.03 crore from Rs 10.29 crore for the year ended March 31, 2006. The company's net sales increased 18% to Rs 864 crore compared to Rs 734 crore in the corresponding period last year.

TCI SCS has bagged the prestigious “Best Supplier for Logistics Support Award 2005” by winning customer loyalty through Proactive Engagement & Planning from Whirlpool.


Analyst Meet of Group TCI

An Analyst Meet of Group TCI was held on 29th May 2006 at Hotel Hilton Towers in Mumbai.


Outstanding Performance Award

XPS-Air, Pune Office was felicitated for their quality services. They received the Outstanding Performance Award for good business practices and commitment to timely payment by Jet Airways. Mr. F. S. Poonia, Controlling Head, Pune received the award on behalf of the entire XPS team.


Role of Business Outsourcing in Supply Chain

Mr. Vineet Agarwal (ED-TCI) spoke on the topic "Role of Business Outsourcing in Supply Chain: Global and Indian Perspective" organised by CSCMP (Council of Supply Chain Management Professionals) in Dubai. This Global Supply Chain & Logistics conference was held in Dubai and focused on The Bottom line Value of Supply Chain management.


Online HR Module

Online HR Module of Leave Entry and Staff Information is successfully implemented in TCI Regions & Logistics from this financial year. This module helps in providing timely information to Corporate HR department and available at Intranet for selected users.


"Visions of the Future"

Mr Vineet Agarwal (ED-TCI) delivered a lecture on the topic "Visions of the Future" at the conference "Towards 2015: The Annual Planning and Business Strategy Roundtable" held on 22nd March 2006 in New Delhi.


Seminar on Multi-modal Transport

Mr Jasjit Sethi (CEO-TCISCS) spoke at a seminar organised by Assocham on Multi-model Transport : Emerging Business Opportunities & Benefits held on 23rd March 2006 in New Delhi.


 Visiting Study Group

A study group of faculty and students from Oakland University, Michigan, USA visited TCI as part of their India tour to study the logistics and supply chain operations in India.
