TCI-SCS State of the Art Warehouse

TCI-SCS has opened a state of the art warehouse spread over an area of 69000 sq ft. This warehouse will be managed and operated by TCI and will exclusively cater to to the spare parts distribution of the Passenger Car Business Unit (PCBU) of Tata Motors for North India.


TCIF organized workshop on Monitoring & Evaluation

TCIF organized a two-day training workshop on Monitoring & Evaluation on 13th & 14th Feb in Hyderabad for the Regional TCIF Program Teams and Project Coordinators of NGOs working with TCIF.


TCI Q3 Results

Transport Corporation of India (TCI) has announced a sharp jump of 67.2% in net profit, which increased to Rs 5.22 crore from Rs 3.12 crore for the quarter ended December 31. The company’s net sales increased 15.22% to Rs223.12 crore compared to Rs 193.64 crore in the corresponding period last year.


Amalgamation of TCI Seaways Ltd.

The Board of Directors has approved scheme of arrangements towards amalgamation of TCI Seaways Ltd., pending requisite approval of shareholders and sanction of the Hon'ble Court of Andhra Pradesh.


"Truckers Utsav"

TCI Foundation organised a “Truckers Utsav” for the trucking population on 30th January 2006 at Gwalior. The day long gala had a health camp besides other recreational and entertainment events. The local community also participated in the event.


Three Deck Design of Trucks

TCI has acquired the patent for three deck design of trucks. These trucks enable space optimisation and allow a mixed load to be transported.

TCI CCM was held from 28th to 29th January 2006 at Lemon Tree Hotel, Gurgaon.


Workshop on "Supply Chain Management and Profitability"

Workshop on "Supply Chain Management and Profitability" was held on 27th January for staff. Professor V. G. Narayanan, an eminent faculty of Harvard Business School conducted the workshop.


Transhipment Coordination Meeting

The 9th TCM (Transhipment Coordination Meeting) was held on 16th-18th December,2005 at the Rewari Hub. All Transhipment Incharges of TCI along with corporate operations team participated in this meeting.


Satellite Clinics

TCIF in collaboration with JK Tyres is setting up satellite clinics to provide medical services to the trucking community. Five clinics are scheduled to come up.


AIDS Awareness campaign

TCI Foundation organized an AIDS awareness campaign on December 1, to observe World AIDS Day.


Annual Review Meeting of TCI Supply Chain Solution

Annual Review Meeting of TCI Supply Chain Solution was on 2nd and 3rd December 2005. Setting its sights high, TCI SCS is all geared up to meet new challenges and envisages accomplishing a turnover of around Rs. 130 crores for 2006-07.

TCI Group has launched HIV/AIDS Work Policy

TCI Group has launched a HIV/AIDS work policy. This policy safeguards an individual against discrimination if found to be tested positive.  Under the guidance of ILO, TCI will appoint Peer Educators. A core committee under the chairmanship of Shri D P Agarwal has been formed to steer it.

XPS Courier Equipped With NETRAK

XPS Courier is successfully making its headway providing its services at 114 branches. Out of these, 96 branches have been fully equipped with NETRAK, a software which helps in tracking the consignment online.


XPS Operations Meet Held at Rewari Hub

XPS Operations Meet was held at Rewari Hub on October 15-16, 2005. Presided over by Mr K Prabhakar (President & CEO-XPS), it was attended by all the Hub Managers/Incharge, Regional Managers, GM (Operations-XPS) and Manager (Operation-XPS).


Franchisee Development Training in TCI

A two day training programme on franchisee development in TCI was held at the Corporate Office on Sep 25 and 26, 2005. The programme was attended by the newly positioned Franchisee Officers in the regions.


Temperature Controlled Packaging Unit of XPS

XPS is in the process of developing temperature controlled packaging unit for the food processing industry. Initially, it is focusing on West Bengal for providing this service.


XPS Courier's  Expansion

Focussing on Kerala, XPS Courier plans to open offices at Palakkad, Ernakulam, Thiruvananthapuram, Kozhikode and Thrissur.


CMC Rollout of TCI & XPS

The CMC Rollout was completed in all the Regions of TCI and XPS during September 2005 for providing a clear direction and setting in place the process of management by objectives.


Health Camp at Corporate Office

Health camp in association with Max Devki Heart & Vascular Institute, New Delhi, was organized at CRPO on August 25, 2005. The camp benefited all employees in the Corporate Office.


XPS Global New Offices

XPS Global expanded its network by opening new offices in Kolkata, Nagpur, Bangalore and Ahmedabad in addition to its presence in Delhi, Mumbai and Chennai.


27th and 7th CMC held at Hotel Crown Princess, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

The 27th and 7th Controlling Managers' Conference of TCI & XPS held at Hotel Crown Princess, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia from August 9-14, 2005. More than 80 delegates from group TCI attended the conference that was based on the theme Moving Together. Emphasis is given to be a Globally supply chain provider, To be a Rs. 2000 Crore Group by 2010, To have systems & processes of global quality levels. Various achievement awards were given to Regional offices, Controlling Offices and also to individuals for Best Officers, Supervisors etc.


XPS IT Architecture

XPS has successfully migrated its IT architecture from 2-tier to 3-tier (Web Based Application) to provide online information to benefit all XPS offerings (Surface, Air, Courier & Cold Chain).

TCI has recorded a profit after tax of Rs 10.55 crore in fiscal 2004-05, representing a 40 percent growth over Rs 7.53 crore in the previous year. This announcement made in the Board Meeting held on June 29,2005.

Mr. D.P Agarwal (VC & MD-TCI) has donated Rs 10000000/- (one crore) for the construction of TCIDAV School at Govindpur Road, Khunt (Ranchi).

TCI Foundation organized an infotainment programme "Trucker's Utsav" in Pune & Nagpur on May 28,2005 and june 26,2005 respectively.


XPS Global New Office

XPS Global has opened an office at Mahipalpur, Delhi. This office was inaugurated by Mr. Chander Agarwal and Mr. K Prabhakar on june 13,2005. the entire XPS Global Delhi team was present along with Mr. P C Sharma and Mr. U K Bhalla.

Strategic Planning Meeting -XPS Courier

XPS Courier organized its Strategic Planning Meeting on May 27 & 28, 2005 at Corporate Office. The meet was aimed at laying the foundation for long-term and short-term strategic policies for the Courier division of XPS. The Meet was headed by Mr. Chander Agarwal, GM-New Ventures (XPS), Mr. K.Prabhakar, President-XPS Mr.P.C.Sharma, (CEO-XPS courier & Air) and Mr. Jasjit Sethi, AVP-Operations, TCI.


Strategic planning exercise of TCI

The strategic Planning exercise of TCI was held between April 9-10,2005 at AHRO,CARO,MDRO and VNRO and between April 14-17, 2005 at HYRO,BBRO,BNRO and DLRO spearhead by the respective Regional Coordinators.


Join hands with a Russian logistics

XPS, the express cargo company from the TCI stable, would join hands with a Russian logistics major to offer inbound and outbound services to its clients. This tie-up provides for international freight, customs clearance and other logistic services for customers doing bilateral business.


Russian visit by XPS Global Officials

Mr. Chander Agarwal (GM - New Ventures) and Mr. Pratul Shekar (GM - XPS Global) visited the 10th Trans Russia 2005 Exhibition held at Moscow Russia from March 21-25,2005. Russia and CIS Countries participated in the exhibition.


XPS Participates in Dubai Expo

XPS took part in the "Words Mail, Express & Air Cargo Middle East and Africa Expo" held at International Convention Centre, Dubai, UAE on March 1 & 2,2005 The exhibition was inaugurated by H.E. Eye & Health Camp for Drivers

TCI Foundation in association with All India Transporters Welfare Association,CSI, Ashok Leyland ,Vardhman Oil Company, PSI and Appolo Tyres organized and eye and health camp for drivers at Sanjay Gandhi Transport Nagar, New Delhi on February 19,2005.About 500 drivers and alied population benefited by this programme

Mr. D. P. Agarwal Awarded Privahan Shiromani

Mr. D.P. Agarwal (VC & MD, TCI) was bestowed the coveted “Parivahan Shiromani” Lifetime Individual Excellence Award by All India Transporters Welfare Association at its first National Convention on 7th January 2004. The award was presented by Shri Bhairon Singh Shekawat, honourable Vice President of India.


CLM at New Delhi

CLM roundtable India successfully organized its 6th seminar and workshop on “logistics for value creation” in New delhi on 17th february 2004. Focusing on value creation, the seminar highlighted different transportation strategies, lean manufacturing and infrastructural challenges in India.


"GD Birla International Award 2002"

The "GD Birla International Award 2002" was conferred on Bhoruka Charitable Trust for outstanding contribution in the field of Rural Development, social and economic upliftment and poverty elimination in the deserts of Rajasthan. The award was presented by Shri. Bharion Singh Shekhwat, Vice President of India, to Dr. Ashok Agarwal - trustee Bhoruka Charitable Trust on 28th Nov. 2003 at New Delhi. The award carries a cash prize of Rs.2 lakh and a citation.


Satellite Trucking

TCI is planning to install an it tool call AVL (Automatic Vehicle Location) on 80 company owned trucks as stated by Mr. Vineet Agarwal (ED-TCI). This tool will help in tracking the exact location of the truck on the highway. Mr Agarwal plans to install the system on all company owned trcuks over the next 18 months.


360-Degree Orientation Programme

TCI Group has initiated 360 Degree Feedback System for all its top line managers under the guidance of T.V.Rao Learning Systems, who are the pioneers in this field in the country. 360 Degree Feedback is a Multi-Rater feedback system where the candidate is assessed by a number of individuals.


19th CCM of XPS

XPS conducted its 19th CCM at JayPee Greens, Noida on the 3rd and 4th November 03. The members of XPS discussed various strategies and conducted half yearly business reviews, providing feedback for the same.

Customer meet of XPS Services was held at Chennai on 20th December 2003 at Hotel Radisson GRT, Chennai.

There were over 300 customers in the Meet. This activity was undertaken to update customers about XPS products/services and strengthen our relationship with them.


5th Seminar & Workshop of CLM Roundtable India

A Seminar & workshop on “3PL: Making the Supply Chain Competitive” was successfully organised by The Council of Logistics Management Roundtable India on 20th November 2003 in The Taj Westend, Bangalore.

The seminar focused on the Role of 3PL in India.


XPS meets Customers at Aurangabad

Customer meet of XPS Services were held at Aurangabad on 13th November 2003 at Hotel Ambassador Ajanta.

There were over 170 customers in the Meet. This activity was undertaken to update customers about XPS products/services and strengthen our relationship with them.


6th CCM held at JayPee Greens, Noida

The 6th Core Committee Meeting was TCI was conducted at JayPee Greens, Noida on the 31st Oct and 1st Nov. The committee members of TCI came together to analyse the steady progress of TCI and to put valuable inputs. Great emphasis was laid on customer service and business development.


Press Conference on the “3PL Trends in India during the year 2003” in association with MDI

The research report on the “3PL trends in India during 2003” was released in a press conference conducted by TCI in association with Management Development Institute, Gurgaon on the 7th November’03 at the India Habitat Centre. Dr. Pritam Singh, Director of MDI, Gurgaon and, Prof. B. S. Sahay, the chairman of Centre Of Supply Chain Management led the MDI research team. The Research report showed various 3PL advantages on the Indian logistics scenario and that these services will push the Indian industry to an international podium.


TCI “ARJUN”

TCI has acquired new ship for enhancing the already existent strong fleet of 4 strong cargo vessels for water transportation. The ship is named after the great archer of our rich history, Arjun, who stands for eternal strength and the capacity to fight under extreme calamity. This precious addition in our fleet will encourage us to increase our capability and capacity to meet the growing business requirements. It would also help TCI in value upgradation and customer satisfaction as it will become capable of serving more clients with better precision.


25th CMC at Chennai

The 25th Chennai was organised in Chennai this year at the hotel Taj Fisherman’s cove from 15th to 17th of August. This year the theme of the meet was customer satisfaction through customised approach and specification. The conference was aimed at bringing together all the controlling managers for better coordination and enhanced effort to bring in new customers through specialised techniques. Various achievement awards were given to Regional offices and also to individuals for best officers, supervisors etc. A gala cultural evening was also organised where different regions performed various skits and dance numbers. Awards were given to them also in accordance to their performances.


Logistics 2003 held in Chennai

TCI, XPS and Logistics participated in the CII coordinated “Logistics 2003” held at Chennai from the 9th October – 12th October at the Chennai Trade Centre.

The exhibition highlighted on end to end logistics and supply chain, shipping and transportation solutions, inventory management solutions, IT and Logistics technology, warehousing material handling and tracking solutions. An average of more than 125 exhibitors and more than 10,000 visitors participated and visited the event.

--First Surface Transport Company in India to be certified as “Customer Centric” --

TUV has bestowed the prestigious award to TCI for establishing and applying a quality system for Surface Cargo Transport service. TCI has been awarded ISO 9001:2000 which is an integration of ISO 9001, 9002 & 9003, for its strict adherence to quality management principles and because of its “customer centric approach”.
